Hand on Heart Charity are delighted to be working with engineering company Jacobs (located in Birchwood, Warrington) to help a school in Leigh this week by donating Leigh CE Primary School on Henrietta Street, Leigh to receive a funded defibrillator and training package following a competition the staff at Jacobs won.
Their prize from the competition was a cash donation, which staff decided to exchange into a lifesaving piece of equipment.
Emma Short Training and Development Coordinator of the charity said “12 young people die from sudden cardiac arrest each week in the UK. Schools are a focal point for communities and having access to a defibrillator not only safeguards pupils, but also teachers, staff and the local population as a whole. We are delighted that we can make the last school in Leigh heart safe with their defibrillator and extremely grateful to the staff at Jacobs for their generosity”.
Steven Bailey at Jacobs commented “We believe in the importance of the health and wellbeing of our younger generation and are excited to be able to provide support back into our local communities within the North West. With this in mind, Jacobs are extremely happy to have been able to support the Hand on Heart initiative by raising funds for the supply and training in use of a Defibrillator Package to Leigh CE Primary School.”
The Headteacher from the school commented “We are extremely pleased and grateful that through the generosity of Jacobs and Hand on Heart our school are to benefit from having a Defibrillator on site- thank you! Whilst we hope to never use the equipment it could prove to be vital in helping to save life.”
Hand on Heart is keen to hear from any local businesses, organisations or individuals who are willing to support a school with sponsorship, fundraising, or making a donation.
