Founding partner defibshop helps Hand on Heart Charity support families.

Hand on Heart are a children’s charity dedicated to keeping children safe and prevent the deaths of 12 young people who die each week of sudden cardiac arrest; that raises funds to place defibrillators into schools and community groups and offers AED and basic life support skills training to staff and students.

The charity also has an initiative – Defibs on Loan.

This initiative helps families with young children who are poorly, have serious heart issues and are unable to leave hospital unless they have their own defibrillator for home, Hand on Heart step in and offer a defibrillator on loan until funds are in place to provide a permanent solution.

With the demand increasing for these Defibs on loan packages, founding partner defibshop have stepped in and has offered the charity 8 defibrillators to help with the demand the charity is facing.

Hand on Heart Fundraising Coordinator Lesley Appleton comments: “Receiving this added support from defibshop means so much to us. In times when families are struggling to accept the news that a young family member has a heart issue is difficult enough, as a charity; being able to offer them some respite of the worries on having a defibrillator at home means a great deal to Hand on Heart. We are grateful to have the continuing support from one of our founding partners and the defibrillators from defibshop will mean so much and on behalf of future families we will be able to help – we can’t thank them enough”.

defibshop Managing Director Lyndsey Hope comments: “The work Hand on Heart do is hugely supported by the business and we’re incredibly honoured to be able to help with easing a family’s struggle when caring for their children. The awareness of defibrillators and cardiac arrest in the young is on the rise and we fully support the work Hand on Heart do to continue this. As a founding partner of the Hand on Heart charity, we hope to work more closely together going forward to support more families in need.’

The charity is now looking for more families to help. If you would like to know more about this initiative, please call the team on 0845 071 0822.
