We are pleased to share the news that staff and pupils from Alexandra School, Park Avenue, Bodhyriyd, Wrexham, have accepted their lifesaving gift.
Our very own Emma Short made a trip to the school and attend a special assembly to the schools staff and students. Talking about what charities do and how they are supported, Emma also explained about our annual UK Heart Safe Awards and the fundraising done during the award evening. As a result of that fundraising, Alexandra School are now heart safe with their very own defibrillator package making them rescue ready should anyone suffer from a cardiac arrest.
The Headteacher from the school commented “We are absolutely delighted that Hand on Heart have kindly chosen our school to benefit from having a Defibrillator – thank you!
Over the past 12 months, we had two incidents where we realised how important it was to have a defibrillator on site: a child was taken seriously ill and we had to send a member of staff running to a local supermarket to loan their defibrillator, wasting valuable time; and a friend of our school suffered a cardiac arrest and was saved with the help of a defibrillator. Whilst we hope to never use the equipment it could prove to be vital in helping to save a life”.
