The 7th annual UK Heart Safe Awards took place on Friday 26th October at the Hilton Deansgate Manchester Hotel.
Attended by over 350 guests from all around the UK with people travelling down from the Trossachs in Scotland down to guests coming all the way up from Cornwall to Manchester it was a true national event that came together to celebrate the achievements of the many individuals, organisations and companies for having ‘heart safe environments‘ (i.e. having a defibrillator on site).
An emotional speech by Hand on Heart Volunteer Fundraiser Sue Warham, set the evening off followed by guests enjoying the experience and delights of taking part in the Diamond Dazzle raffle, which raised £2,200 in just 7 minutes! Big thanks to Diamond Heaven and Holdswoth Chocolates for supporting the raffle.
13 awards were announced in all, with categories ranging from Not for Profit to Large Businesses and with two special awards; Life Saver of the Year won by 13 year old Joe Rowlands who saved his Dad’s life and the Special Recognition Award going to BBC Lincolnshire and their amazing efforts to train over 22,000 people in CPR in just 8 months.
