The most significant language in Europe is German. Students' interest in German has increased as a result of developments in the EU and German chancellor Angela Merkel's aspirations to make her nation a more significant force. Germany is the top exporter in Europe, and the country offers a wide range of job options. German is especially in demand since, despite having the most native speakers in Europe, few people actually speak it outside of Germany.

German-speaking experts are needed by British businesses since Germany is one of the UK's top commercial partners. This claim is backed up by the CBI, the leading business lobbying group in the UK, in its study Learning to Grow: What Employers Need from Education and Skills. According to the research, German is the most beneficial foreign language for UK-based organizations.

Due to these factors, more German students have been enrolled since 2008, particularly in the lower grades.
