We are raising money to put a defibrillator into every secondary school in Warrington after the death of Ciaran Geddes, 7, in April.
The Warrington Guardian and Warrington Wolves have also lent us their support with Wolves player Chris Riley (pictured above, left) acting as an ambassador for the project.
Hand on Heart needs to raise £21,000 to help prevent cardiac arrests claiming the lives of young children in Warrington. This money will provide defibrillators, CPR training and Basic Life Support lessons for pupils to the 12 secondary schools in Warrington.
The family of Locking Stumps youngster Ciaran Geddes, who died of a suspected heart problem while he was playing football last month, have also given their backing to the charity and are also hoping to raise cash in the seven year-old’s name to buy defibrillators for his school and football team.

Our Chairman David Howarth says: “I don’t want to be sat here in six months having not achieved this and then a child dies in Warrington because we have not done anything about it. If a jumbo jet crashed every year carrying 270 people there would be a serious investigation but nobody is doing anything about it and we are the only charity in the UK doing this.
“I have four children all under the age of six and I wouldn’t want to be in the position of knowing a defibrillator would have saved their life if it had been there.”
We are providing defibrillators to schools to prevent 12 young people dying every week from sudden cardiac arrest and 270 children dying at school each year.
Immediate use of a defibrillator and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can increase the chance of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest from 6% to 74%.
You can help us provide defibrillators to every secondary school in Warrington by donating today. We have set up a different Just Giving page to make sure that all of the money donated to support this project is spent in the Warrington area.
